Franciska Brilli emigrated from the former Yugoslavia to Germany in the 1960s. There, she worked for the tourism company Litz as a tour guide and stewardess on luxury tourist buses, traveling across the Mediterranean and North Africa. In the 1960s and 1970s, it was quite remarkable to bring a bus full of wealthy German tourists to a poor fishing village in southern Italy. As a token of gratitude, the locals gifted Franciska Brilli sea silk. Over the years, Franciska gradually processed this sea silk.
